Good haiku, Carlos :)

mind, head, feet -- all in action...and i was reminded of this quote,

'If God had wanted man to play soccer, He wouldn't have given us arms' Mike Dikta

Clever. On the other hand, Mr. Ditka, I'm afraid, is simply parochial. American "football" doesn't have a World Cup.

Clever - i hate that word..ever since i realised (rather educated by my father) that intellegence/wisdom would be a better thing where mind joins with heart...clever is just a matter of the mind...i am more a person of the heart; though my mind can't be considered any weak - God's grace,

well thought of saying that because its "mind over matter" here :)

I don't see the "American" part of Ditka so much as his quote, Carlos :)

I'm afraid i was a little too straight with "i hate that word" --Please, i didn't mean to offend....Hope you didn't take it so, Carlos :)

Devika,

I was referring to Ditka. I think he was trying to be clever at the expense of "World" Football, (the FIFA-sanctioned sport played worldwide, referred to as "soccer" mostly by North Americans. In Europe, Central & South America, Asia, and Africa, the game played by mainly using one's feet is called Football -- not "soccer".

Ditka is a former American "football" player and coach. I think he was trying to put "soccer" -- or Football -- down when he made the statement you quoted and in turn uphold his sport, American "football".

American "football" is played mainly in the U.S. It really looks very much the American version of "rugby". I think it is best called "American" rugby. Most of the time, players carry the ball in their hands or pass the ball using their hands. It could also be called American "handball".

In truth, I avidly follow American "football" and am a fan of the Vikings and the Colts. But I grew up playing Football -- and I don't care much for folks who make cavalier comments about Football as being a sissy, silly, and boring game. :)

Cheers!

Oh Okay, Carlos :) and thats quite enlightening...because we don't get to watch those "versions" of football here --

My father and brother were university football players and i got to watch football from young age....now frankly, its only World-cup or the Indian national games,

I like watching football or hockey and find those games more thrilling than cricket - seemingly the only sport of India today, :)

True, Robert. Yet what if two disputing countries just resolved their disagreement via a game of football? :)

Have a great weekend.
